Extract Text from Image
Extract and transcribe text from any image in seconds.
Got text stuck inside an image? A screenshot, a scanned document, a photo of a whiteboard, a receipt — the words are right there, but you can't select, copy, or edit them.
Extract Text from Image solves that in seconds. Upload your image and get back every readable word as clean, plain text — ready to copy, paste, search, or edit anywhere.
No software to install. No account required. Works with photos, screenshots, PDFs converted to images, handwritten notes, signs, and more.

How to use it
Using the tool is straightforward — just two steps:
- Upload your image. Click the upload area and select the image file you want to extract text from. This can be a photo, screenshot, scan, or any image containing visible text.
- Get your text. The tool analyzes your image and returns all detected text in clean, readable order — preserving line breaks, lists, and tables where it helps. Copy the result and use it anywhere.
If a portion of the text is unreadable or obscured, those sections will be marked as [unreadable] so you always know exactly what was and wasn't captured.
FAQ
What types of images does this tool work with? Any image containing visible text — photos, screenshots, scans, whiteboard captures, receipts, business cards, slides, and more. As long as the text is visible in the image, the tool will attempt to extract it.
Does it work with handwritten text? It can handle clearly written handwriting, but heavily stylized or very messy handwriting may reduce accuracy. Printed text consistently gives the best results.
What happens if some text is unreadable?
Any portion the tool cannot confidently read is marked with [unreadable] in the output. Nothing is invented or guessed — you always get an honest result.
Does it support languages other than English? Yes. The tool detects and returns text in whatever language appears in the image, including mixed-language images.
Is there a limit to how much text it can extract? For very text-heavy images, the tool will extract as much as it can within its processing limit and let you know if the content was too large to capture in full.
Ways to use it
Digitizing scanned documents. Have a scanned contract, form, or report saved as an image? Upload it and pull out all the text so you can edit, search, or repurpose it — no manual retyping needed.
Copying text from screenshots. Grabbed a screenshot of an article, error message, or social media post? Extract the text instantly instead of typing it out by hand.
Transcribing whiteboard or slide photos. Snap a photo of a meeting whiteboard or presentation slide and get a clean text transcript you can drop straight into your notes or docs.
Extracting data from receipts or invoices. Pull line items, totals, and dates from receipt photos or invoice scans for expense tracking or record-keeping.
Making image text searchable. Convert image-locked content — like infographics or photographed pages — into plain text you can search, translate, or feed into other tools.
